Pete F. Arroyo

90, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday evening, February 25, 2018, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Woodland Hills.

He was the husband of Caroline (Mendoza) Arroyo with whom he observed their 68th wedding anniversary on February 12, 2018. Born April 29, 1927 in Dacono, Colorado. He was the son of the late John Juarez Arroyo and Serafina (Fuentes) Arroyo. Pete was a wartime veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired after 46 years from Lockheed Corporation. His sense of humor brightened our lives. He always made time for the kids' games; and, he welcomed everyone with open arms. Pete loved baseball and played softball into his 60's. He also loved to polka dance and bowl. He was an avid movie buff, reader, and journaled his daily life.

In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by three sons: Rene Arroyo of Simi Valley and his wife Linda; Ken Arroyo of Northridge and his late wife, Nickie; and Ed Arroyo of Northridge; four grandsons: Tim and wife Joselyn; Nick and wife Sara; Trevor; and Michael and wife Beka; 1 granddaughter, Amanda and husband Jesse; 3 great grandsons: Aiden, Seth, and Luke; 1 great granddaughter: Nicholee; three sisters: Lola, Phyllis, Lupe; and three brothers: Bruce, Rufus, and Angelo. Pete is preceded in death by two children: Andrew and Mary; brothers: Paul, Bennie, John; and sisters: Carmen, Josephine, Caroline and Julia. Pete also enjoyed time spent with his numerous aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18400 Kinzie Street, Northridge, CA 91325. Rosary is at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills, CA 91345.
