Margaret Rose Tascon Alonso

July 27, 1938 - February 21, 2018

Margaret Tascon Alonso was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, one of three daughters to John Kitsco and Julie Bodnarchuk. She studied fine arts at the University of Alberta and became an accomplished artist in Western Canada under her maiden name, Margaret Kitsco. While at the University of Alberta, she married a Spanish student, Manuel Tascon Alonso, who became a medical professional specializing in heart valve research. Margaret and Dr Tascon Alonso lived in Spain for a short period before returning to Canada in the 1970s. They migrated to the United States and eventually settled in California where Dr Tascon Alonso pursued his medical research. Margaret pursued her artistry under the name Margaret Tascon while in California.

Margaret passed away in her sleep after a few months of deteriorating health conditions. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, Dr Manuel Alonso Tascon. She is survived by her son, Robert, living in California and her sisters Frances (Canada) and Barbara (Thailand) and her sister-in-law, Gloria, living in Spain. Margaret has multiple nieces and nephews in Canada and Spain.

Services will take place Wednesday, February 28, 2018:
Visitation from 9:30 – 10:00 am at Utter McKinley San Fernando Mission Mortuary, 11071 Columbus Ave, Mission Hills, CA Tel (818) 361-4751.
Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at San Fernando Mission Rey Church, 15151 San Fernando Mission Blvd., Mission Hills (Parking available in Cemetery)
Interment to follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
