Marie Rowan went home on December 25 to be reunited with her beloved husband Joe. Marie was born in Los Angeles and lived in the San Fernando Valley all her life. She worked at Los Angeles City Hall as a secretary after graduating from North Hollywood High School in 1942. In 1973 she opened "Marie's Party Palace" on Maclay Street and operated it for 35 years.
She is survived by her children, Timothy, Thomas, and Teresa Rowan, daughter-in-law Judy Rowan and son-in-law Zeljko Dilas, by four grandchildren, Karen, Kristin, Heather, and Jeremy Rowan, Jeremy's wife Heidi, and three great-grandchildren, Kassidy Leonard, Devyn Rowan, and Dylan Rowan Brocksieck.
Marie was the youngest of the five children of Joseph and Alice Cook, who relocated to the Valley from Wilmington, Delaware in 1924. She married Joseph P. Rowan, formerly of Philadelphia, in 1949. She was surrounded by her children and her niece Diane (Hilbert) Hass at the time of her passing, in the home she and Joe had bought in 1951.
